The history of General Studies in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria is intertwined in the University’s academic and physical development. On its establishment in 1982, the University, in line with the Federal Ministry Government’s decision to introduce a compulsory national awareness programme for all students in Nigerian Universities through an enabling decree promulgated in 1977, established its own General Studies Unit with two General Studies Courses in Agriculture and Citizenship Education and Cultural life of Nigerians. These courses were given GNS 001 and 002 respectively.
